The short version: your subscription data never leaves your device. There is no server, no account system, and no company database. Everything you enter is stored locally in your browser.
When you add a subscription — product name, price, account name, email, notes, and so on — it is saved using your browser's local storage on the device you're using. This data is never transmitted to Renuway, its developer, or any third party. There is no backend server that receives, processes, or retains it.
If you use the app on more than one device, each device keeps its own separate copy. Nothing syncs automatically between them.
To convert prices between currencies, the app fetches current exchange rates from a third-party service, open.er-api.com. This happens when you change your display currency or tap "refresh rates." Only a generic request for exchange rate data is sent — none of your subscription details, prices, or personal information are included in that request. The rates are cached on your device for up to 12 hours to reduce how often this call is made.
If you have no internet connection, the app falls back to the last cached rates, or shows amounts in their original currency without conversion.
The Android version of Renuway includes an optional feature called Ad Relief, where you can choose to watch a short rewarded video ad to see a symbolic offset applied toward your monthly subscription total. This feature is entirely opt-in — nothing happens unless you tap "Watch and offset" yourself.
Ad Relief uses Google AdMob to serve these ads. To show ads and comply with regional consent requirements, AdMob may collect a device advertising ID and some general device and usage information (such as device type, general location at a country/region level, and ad interaction data). This is Google's data collection for ad delivery — it is separate from, and never linked to, your subscription data, which still stays only on your device.
Where required (for example under GDPR for users in the EU/UK/EEA), you'll see a consent prompt before any ads load, and you can manage or withdraw that consent through the prompt or your device's ad settings.
The offset shown in Ad Relief is symbolic only — a small fixed amount per completed ad view, converted to your currency. No real money is paid out, refunded, or withdrawable, and no payment or financial account information is involved.
The web version at renuway.com does not include ads or Ad Relief — this section applies only to the Android app.
The "Download backup" feature in Settings creates a plain .json file containing your subscription data and saves it to your device's downloads — it is not uploaded anywhere by the app. You control where that file goes afterward (e.g. if you manually move it to cloud storage or share it, that's outside the app's control). Anyone who opens that file can read its contents, so store and share it the same way you would any personal document.
Uninstalling the app, clearing your browser's site data for this page, or clearing your browser's local storage will permanently delete everything you've entered. Since nothing is stored elsewhere, this cannot be recovered unless you've exported a backup beforehand.
This app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, since it does not collect information from anyone at all — data stays local to the device.
If this policy changes — for example, if a future version adds an optional cloud sync feature — this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly. Any such feature would be opt-in, never silent.
